Turning audience intelligence into accountable editorial decisions
For a company managing a portfolio of talent-led shows, the costly decisions happen before an episode is published: which idea to develop, which cut to change, and which audience to serve. SlateRoom brings audience intelligence into those moments, giving production teams a structured basis for discussion rather than another retrospective dashboard.
The business challenge
Turn model output into something an editor, showrunner, or publisher can use to make a consequential decision. A score alone is not enough: teams need to understand the audience behind the assessment, the evidence supporting it, and the uncertainty that remains.
Buildcraft’s role
Co-founded by Carl Brunson through a joint venture between Buildcraft and SOAR Productions, SlateRoom connects positioning, brand, report design, and the underlying engine. The product organizes ideas, scripts, cuts, and published episodes into role-specific reports, with audience context and actionable recommendations.
The human–AI relationship
The system analyzes and recommends; the production team retains editorial authority. Evidence, confidence, and segment-level explanations help people challenge a recommendation instead of treating a forecast as a fact. Comparing predictions with observed audience behavior supports accountability, but ongoing validation is still necessary before claiming reliable performance improvements.
The business value
The intended value is better allocation of production effort: identify questions earlier, focus revision work, and make the reasoning behind a decision visible across a team. This case is about designing that decision system—not promising virality or replacing creative judgment.
